Huge news from the NSSC Family. Layla Estes, a 17U athlete from Scott City High School, has officially committed to play college volleyball at Missouri Baptist University.
A 17U commitment is its own kind of story. It means the work showed up early. It means college coaches were paying attention. And it means Layla has been doing the right things for a long time.
Meet Layla Estes
Layla has been a force in our 17U program — bringing the kind of court awareness, technical skill, and competitive fire that you build over years, not weeks. A standout at Scott City High School, she’s earned a reputation as a complete player and a true student of the game.
And here’s what stands out the most: Layla shows up. Practice after practice, tournament after tournament, season after season. That kind of consistency is rare. It’s also exactly what Missouri Baptist saw — and exactly why they made room for her early.
“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to play volleyball at Missouri Baptist University along with my goal of becoming a nurse!! I want to thank my coaches, parents, sister, grandparents, friends, teammates, my support system, and NSSC Volleyball Club for encouraging me to continue to be able to play at this level! I am extremely grateful to God for blessing me with this huge opportunity!!” – Layla Estes

From the NSSC Coaching Staff
“Layla will bring such fire and team spirit to the Spartan roster! With solid back row play and energy the Spartans have landed a great addition to their 2027 roster!”
— Coach Carl Ritter, NSSC Volleyball Club

About Missouri Baptist University
Located in St. Louis, Missouri, Missouri Baptist University (MBU) is a private Christian university and home to the Spartans. The school competes at the NAIA level in the American Midwest Conference, where the volleyball program has built a competitive presence and a strong development pipeline.
MBU is the kind of campus that balances rigorous athletics with a faith-rooted community and academic experience. For Layla, it’s an environment that matches both her competitive drive and the kind of character she’s brought to every NSSC team she’s been part of.
What’s Next for Layla
Layla still has time left in her NSSC career — and we’re going to enjoy every minute of it. Knowing where she’s headed makes every practice and every tournament feel just a little bit sweeter, because we get to watch a player who’s already locked in her future continue to grow into it.
Layla, on behalf of the NSSC Family — we are SO proud. MBU is getting a player who already knows what it takes. Keep doing the work. We can’t wait to watch you write the next chapter. 💛
